Orient Heights Yacht Club

Orient Heights Yacht Club is located at 61 Bayswater Street in East Boston MA. It sits on the north banks of Winthrop Harbor overlooking the airport with beautiful views of down town Boston.

OHYC is a not for profit organization. Funding comes from membership, dockage, Function Hall rentals, public and private events, and sales of liquor and food.

The Club has the following features:

Fully stocked members bar featuring 3 flat panel TV's with Bose sound system
Members Lounge area with leather couches, tables, 55" flat panel TV, DVD, VHS
A second story deck off the members area that runs across the entire front of the building. This is a beautiful place to sit with views of the action at the airport and of Boston Skyline.
A 100x50ft ground level deck that sits over the water with 75 personal lockers.
A washing machine and two dryers
84 Slips with water and electricity - 2 guest docks available for visitors
A private beach. Also, a very short walk to Constitution Beach
A members only parking lot.
A members only boat launch ramp
Wireless Internet access throughout the complex and docks.
Winter boat storage for approximately 20 boats
A 130 person function hall with a fully stocked bar (Flat panel TV), dance floor, and caterers kitchen. The kitchen includes an industrial refrigerator/freeze, stove/griddle and oven.

History:

The Orient Heights Yacht Club is the oldest incorporated yacht club in Massachusetts. It was incorporated on August 31st, 1901. The original charter still stands true today...

"The purpose for which the corporation is constituted is for the encouragement of yachting and for the establishment and maintenance of places for social meeting.

In April of 2000 an electrical fire totally destroyed the building along with a number of boats. The membership rallied together and a brand new building was constructed and opened in February 2005.

Membership:

Membership at OHYC is via sponsorship. A request for application must be submitted with the signature of two current members in good standing.

OHYC has two membership options:

Full Member: Full members have total access to the club and docks along with voting rights. Full access to the web site
Social Member: Access to the club member areas for socializing. Full access to the web site.

Membership Costs:

Full Membership is $750 the first year and $250 every year there after.

Yearly - $100 coupon book - Can be used for food and drink at the members bar and for club functions.
If you have a slip, dockage is $20 a foot with work hours performed. An additional $50 a year if you keep a dingy (under 13ft) in the water.
If you have a locker, lockers are $125 a year

Social Membership is $125 a year.
